Practice Update
✉️ Goodbye to Postal Mail We are reducing the use of paper mail to cut down on costs and environmental waste. Most of your letters and appointment notifications will now be available online.
📱 Hello to the NHS App / NHS online account For a faster, more secure, and cost-effective way to receive communications, we encourage all patients to download and use the NHS App or create an NHS account via a browser.
The app allows you to:
- View letters and appointment details
- Order repeat medication
- Consult with us online
- Receive notifications directly
- Access important health information
🔒 Why the NHS App? It is more secure than traditional text messages and allows us to safeguard your personal information while keeping you informed.
What Can You Do to Help?
- Download the NHS App today from the App Store or Google Play.
- Ensure your contact details are up to date.
- Turn on notifications in the NHS App to stay informed about your appointments and medical updates.
No Digital Access? Don’t Worry!
We understand that not everyone can access digital tools. No one will be left out.
If you’re unable to use the NHS App, we will continue to communicate with you through alternative methods. This could include phone calls, letters, or other appropriate ways to ensure you stay connected.
If you need assistance setting up an NHS account or downloading the NHS App, please ask one of our team members—we are happy to help!
Thank you for supporting us in making this change.
Appointment System
We implemented a new triage system powered by AccuRx, in March which allows us to efficiently manage appointments and ensure you are directed to the most appropriate healthcare professional. This system is accessible through our practice website, contact us online, where you can fill out an online form detailing your symptoms. If you are unable to complete the form online, our care navigators are here to assist you by completing the form on your behalf over the phone.
A clinician works closely with care navigators on a daily basis in the same office to review all online and appointment requests. They ensure each request is signposted to the correct person, and they may often ask for more information or request that you attend for further tests. This collaborative approach has allowed us to manage more patients safely and efficiently.
You no longer need to call at 8am or wait until Monday to secure an appointment. Our system allows for more flexibility removing the 8am rush.
Telephone Message
We are pleased to announce that in October we will be shortening our telephone message. Additionally, we are implementing a call-back option to further enhance your experience. Here’s how it works:
- When you call the practice and choose the appointment option, you will have the option to request a call-back instead of waiting on hold.
- Simply follow the prompts to enter your phone number and our system will hold your place in the queue
- You will receive a call back from us as soon as it is your turn, allowing you to go about your day without waiting on the line
We appreciate the support and understanding of our patients as we continue to navigate the challenges faced by general Practice. We are incredibly proud of our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to ensure your health needs are met. By working together, we can continue to create a supportive and caring environment for everyone. Thank you for being a valued part of our Wigton medical Practice community.
